Rapid Deployment Sensor Technology from AirPatrol Corporation

AirPatrol Corporation, a leading vendor of wireless threat management systems,  showcased its novel Rapid Deployment Sensor (RDS) to investors and technology executives from dozens of firms during the launch of the ‘Solutions Center’ of the Secure Strategy Group on May 26, 2010.

The RDS is the only and first intrusion sensing system of the wireless security industry that is capable of white hat penetration tests, temporary wireless security deployments, and wireless vulnerability assessments.

The demonstration was held at the Herndon, VA-based Center for Innovative Technology. The RDS offers security personnel belonging to the correctional and enforcement industries, global 1000 firms, government agencies and blue-chip corporations with a cost-effective and rapid technique for evaluating their wireless environments’ strengths and weaknesses, according to the AirPatrol Corporation’s CEO Ozzie Diaz. He explained that the greatest hurdle currently faced by corporations is guaranteeing unimpeded network security. He added that the increasing mobile force has magnified the threats to safeguarding proprietary data and invites long term vulnerabilities and ramifications, and corporations would have to take appropriate action to deal with these.

The RDS is suitable for temporary wireless environments like temporary military posts established during battle, quarterly financial investor meetings of a corporation and correctional facilities facing problems with acquisition of contraband mobile phones.

The RDS is utilized with the AirPatrol’s Wireless Locator System (WLS) of AirPatrol, the only wireless location and intrusion detection system that manages Cellular Device security and 802.11 WLAN Device.

The RDS, a standard WLS sensor, has a rechargeable battery and a wireless mesh backhaul in a weatherproof, sturdy, and compact case. The RDS’s in-built wireless mesh node obviates the requirement of network cables among the sensors.

Network connectivity between the laptop that hosts the WLS Management application and the WLS Sensors is provided via the 802.11-enabled wireless mesh. RDS’s user-friendly, casing, and battery-enabled functioning render it a perfect system for rapidly deploying security needs.
