The thicknessGAUGE sensor systems are engineered for the high-precision thickness measurement of strip materials, plates, and sheets up to 50 mm. The systems provide a cost-effective solution for inline thickness monitoring across a wide range of materials and surfaces with multiple models in various sensor types, measuring ranges, and widths.
Each system is delivered fully assembled, featuring a stable frame with two factory-aligned optical distance sensors. These sensors determine the object's thickness using the differential principle. To ensure maximum accuracy, every system undergoes specialized factory thickness calibration.
A linear axis transports the sensor assembly from its protected parking position to the active measuring position.
The parking position includes a built-in measurement standard, facilitating fully automatic calibration cycles to maintain long-term precision.
Thickness Measurement with High Precision

The thicknessGAUGE sensor systems are specifically engineered for the high-precision thickness measurement of strip and plate materials within industrial production environments. The system can perform thickness measurements in a traversing mode, scanning across the material width equipped with an electromechanical linear drive.
The system can be configured for fixed-track measurements. This mode is ideal for continuous monitoring of the center-line thickness or for dedicated inspections along the material edges.
Automatic Calibration and Temperature Compensation

The thicknessGAUGE systems feature integrated in-situ calibration to maintain high precision even in unstable industrial environments. This automated process effectively compensates for external factors, such as fluctuating ambient temperatures, ensuring consistent measurement accuracy.
Users can define individually adjustable calibration cycles to suit specific production requirements. This in-situ functionality serves as a continuous diagnostic tool, allowing the system’s operational integrity to be verified cyclically or on demand at any time beyond thermal compensation.
