Principle of Operation
The LabSense Laboratory Charge Analyzer is often called the ‘5 Minute Jar Tester’. This designation comes from its ability to help users determine the optimal coagulant dosage for peak NTU and TOC reduction, typically in under five minutes. As a result, it is a vital instrument for optimizing coagulation in water treatment processes.
Within the LabSense measurement cell, a reciprocating piston operates within a probe assembly. This probe draws particles and dissolved substances to its exterior through Van der Waals forces.
Counter ions surround these particles, and the probe's motion induces their movement. Electrodes situated within the probe quantify the movement of these counter ions. This measured flow constitutes an electrical current. The electrical current is processed electronically and displayed on the LabSense display as the Streaming Current Value (SCV).
To determine the optimal dosage, introduce a precise volume of coagulant into the raw water sample until the instrument's reading indicates full charge neutralization.
