Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions (TAOS) stands fifth amongst the top 100 fastest growing private companies in Dallas. These awards are being sponsored by the Cox Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship at Southern Methodist University.
This is the fourth time in a row that TAOS has won the award. It also enjoys the distinction of being the only semiconductor company that has been chosen for the awards.
The President of the company listed some of the technologies developed at the company namely proximity detection, colour sensing, ambient light sensing etc. The light sensing technologies have been used in smart phones, desktop PCs and laptops. TAOS had recently tied up with Austriamicrosystems, which is a leading manufacturer and designer of analog integrated circuits for automotive, medical and industrial markets. TAOS also designs optoelectronic sensors which can be used in analog mixed signal design, power management and sensor interfaces. These sensors are used in smart wireless/wired sensor platform applications. Some of the other products manufactured by TAOS are light-to-digital, light-to-frequency and light-to-voltage convertors. The light sensing devices manufactured by TAOS are used in display management systems.
