Dexcom G4 Glucose Monitoring System Receives CE Mark Approval

Dexcom G4 system that monitors glucose in a continuous manner has received CE Mark approval. The CE Mark approval enables commercialization of the G4 system in countries such as Latin America and Asia that recognize this CE Mark approval.

The International Diabetes Federation refers to diabetes as a chronic disease that could also lead to disability and death of individuals. Almost 366 million people from all over the world suffer from diabetes for which no cure has been discovered. Lower limb amputations, adult blindness and end stage kidney failure occur due diabetes. Diabetic people are increasingly prone to suffer from strokes and cardiovascular diseases. People with diabetes can thus receive benefits from the Dexcom G4 system. These benefits include controlling of glucose levels and managing diabetes in a better manner.

Terrance H. Gregg, Chief Executive Officer of Dexcom, stated that despite the already successfully existing Seven Plus sensor in the market Dexcom is a lot more proud of the reliability and improved performance of the Dexcom G4 system. Dexcom recently presented the data on the performance of the G4 system at the 72nd Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association. Gregg further stated that Dexcom is planning to launch the G4 system outside the United States and this system will soon be launched in Europe.
