INOVA VectorSeis Full-Wave Sensor to be Used for Marcellus Shale Seismic Survey

ION Geophysical announced that it has started a three dimensional multi-client seismic survey on the Marcellus shale play situated in central Pennsylvania.

The company will implement the survey program, which includes planning, survey design, data acquisition, data processing, and reservoir analysis services. The company provides data acquisition services using the latest technologies. All these services will be provided by GX Technology imaging solutions unit of ION.

The company has partnered with Tesla-Conquest for the data acquisition. The INOVA land seismic technologies will be used for the data acquisition. The technologies from INOVA to be used for the survey include the VectorSeis digital, full-wave sensor, and the FireFly cableless acquisition system. INOVA is a joint venture between BGP and ION.

The company has begun the mobilization for the initial phase of the survey, covering 200 square miles of the area. The Marcellus shale is a hot unconventional gas play located in North America.

The CEO and President of INOVA, Steve Bate, commented that the VectorSeis and FireFly products can enable an efficient and safe winter acquisition campaign with low impact, and offering advanced multicomponent measurements at the same time.
