Vishay’s 34 THE Sensor and SiR870DP Win EDN China 2011 Awards

Vishay Intertechnology has declared that its 34 THE Hall Effect sensor and SiR870DP power MOSFET received the EDN China 2011 Innovation Awards, which were introduced in the year 2005.

On December 1 at an award function held in Shanghai, THE Hall Effect sensor and SiR870DP power MOSFET won awards in the sensor and passive component, and module and power device categories respectively. 34 THE received the leading product award while the power MOSFET won the best product award. The competition comprised nine technology divisions, wherein 80 companies displaying nearly 140 products competed. Out of which 50 products were shortlisted and nominated by the EDN China’s online readers, from which technical experts and senior editors selected the final winners.

In addition to the 10 V MOSFET offering 6 m¿ on-resistance, the Vishay’s 100 V SiR870DP delivers a 7.8 m¿ industry-less on-resistance, which is developed using the new ThunderFET technology. These devices with very less on-resistance ensure reduction in conduction losses and power consumption while designing, resulting in green energy-saving solutions. The SiR870DP with its very low on-resistance of 208 m¿-nC FOM at 4.5V in DC to DC converter ensures very less switching and conduction losses, when used in high frequency and switching applications. This very low on-resistance rating of 4.5V MOSFET permits the use of a broad range of PWM and gate driver ICs, while designing an isolated DC/DC power supply circuits for telecom brick and bus converter applications.

The Vishay’s 34 THE Hall Effect sensor is the first sensor with multi-turn featuring non-contact technology in the industry, which find its usage in harsh environment applications requiring increased lifetime. The 34 THE Hall Effect sensors with ten-turns are capable of functioning at vibrations of high frequency up to 20 G and shocks of about 50 G. Vishay’s sensors ensure long-life of about 50 and 10 million cycles with servo and bushing mount respectively, which can be ideally used in steering wheel’s servo control in off-road and marine applications.
