Active Silicon now offers FireBird frame grabber technology in the CompactPCI Serial format with extended temperature range for industrial embedded applications.
The FireBird Camera Link 3U cPCI Serial supports capture from two simultaneous Base Camera Link cameras as well as single Base, Medium, Full and Deca (80-bit) configurations.
The 4-lane Gen2 interface used on the FireBird can sustain a 1.7Gbytes/s throughput and is fast enough to cope with the full data rate that the Camera Link Deca interface can support.
The board also features comprehensive I/Os for trigger, optical encoders, exposure control and general I/O. Power over Camera Link (PoCL) is also supported.
Designed for ultimate performance, FireBird uses Active Silicon’s proprietary DMA technology, “ActiveDMA”. This technical innovation applies RISC based processor techniques and guaranties zero CPU intervention, high speed and very low latency image data transfers.
The Camera Link 3U cPCI Serial is supported by Active Silicon’s easy to use, comprehensive PHX Software Development Kit (SDK), which allows integrators to develop applications quickly and effectively.
The SDK is available for a variety of operating systems via a common API, including Windows, Linux (32 bit and 64 bit environments), Mac OS X and QNX. Drivers for third party applications are also available such as Cognex VisionPro, Common Vision Blox, StreamPix, LabVIEW etc.
FireBird is fully GenICam compliant, making this frame grabber compatible with all Camera Link cameras that support the CLProtocol, including those using GenCP. A GenTL Producer is provided as part of the FireBird driver installation.
