The R. STAHL control device system series 8040, provides an extensive range of robust control devices for global use in hazardous areas in Zones 1/21 and 2/22. The units are available in several standard versions with four different enclosure sizes. Flange connections enable up to three enclosures to be combined hence, the modular construction design ensures customer-specific equipment and combination.

For individual configuration, in addition to a number of different actuators such as pushbuttons, mushroom pushbuttons, mushroom stay-put buttons, twin pushbuttons and illuminated pushbuttons, R. STAHL also offers various rotary actuators, key-operated switches and LED indicator lamps. The switching functions of selector switches can be converted from latching to spring return via integrated coding without any additional accessories. Furthermore, optional built-in components such as current meters and voltmeters or load and motor switches complete the range of equipment. It is also possible to fit up to four contact elements with a single actuator.

The control devices made of glass fibre and reinforced polyester can be distinguished, with a durable silicone seal and compact dimensions, as well as by a temperature-resistant construction design. They ensure IP 66 level of protection and can withstand temperature conditions ranging from -60 °C to +70 °C. Certifications according to ATEX and IECEx, and for other national markets and the maritime sector, ensure the unrestricted use of this control device series in all global regions and sectors.
