Samsung’s SmartThings Cam Takes Home Monitoring to the Next Level

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has launched its new SmartThings Cam, built to assist families in closely monitoring what matters most at home. SmartThings Cam is a smarter way to monitor home with the finest monitoring features at an affordable price.

Cam unites crisp, vivid detail in Full HD, High Dynamic Range (HDR) wide-angle video with cutting-edge object detection that smartly senses motion rapidly.

With SmartThings Cam, families can easily view their home from anyplace using the SmartThings app and receive notifications that intuitively differentiate between people and the motion of a passing car or pets. Activity zones can be fixed to pay more attention to a particular area, such as alerting parents of movement in a nursery or when a pet gets onto furniture when no one is home.

While a number of indoor cameras are restricted to a 130° view, the SmartThings Cam, however, can see more in a home both at day or night using a Full HD (1080p) 145°, wide-angle camera with night vision. SmartThings Cam’s wider view also has improved picture quality to see and capture more specifics in video using HDR technology, and two-way audio built-in enables easy communication from a smartphone.

Home monitoring with SmartThings Cam becomes simple with automation using the SmartThings app, users can fix Works with SmartThings light bulbs to switch on when motion is sensed at night, or automatically switch on activity zones when a user goes out of the home. Cam is provided with 24-hour cloud storage at no extra cost, with up the option to link together four SmartThings Cams. Premium 30-day cloud storage is also available for $7.99 per month or $79.99 annually, with the option to link up to eight SmartThings Cams.

Along with the new SmartThings Cam, Samsung is also increasing its SmartThings family by launching a SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug and SmartThings Smart Bulb. These products join the complete line of fully redesigned SmartThings Hub and sensors, which were introduced last year. With SmartThings Cam and Wi-Fi Smart Plug, setup is basic and easy via in-home Wi-Fi, and a SmartThings Hub is not required.

The SmartThings Smart Bulb is a smarter and cost-saving way to light a home offering customization with warm, white light that can be dimmed and regulated with a voice assistant. With the SmartThings Hub and the SmartThings app, tailored automations such as dimming the lights for a movie at night or programming them to switch on before arriving home after dark can be created.

With the latest Wi-Fi Smart Plug, users can make almost every small appliance, lamp, or electronic device in the home smart with an unobtrusive, compact design and voice control support.
