Ellway Design Launches ED200ie Sensors

Ellway Design has added the ED200ie, a continuous individual sensor head for hot aggregate to their portfolio, consisting of high-quality level-measurement solutions to be employed in the asphalt industry.

ED200ie, a continuous individual sensor head

After the runaway success of the ED200 depending on the cost factor, and the type of stone used, the ED200ie could be linked to either an already existing bin metal work, or any other metal work chosen. For facilities without an existing bin metal work, Ellway suggests the use of their channel and isolated pillars.

The sensor heads are made of metal and have a through the wall connection tip. The robust weather resistant framework encloses snap in electronic units, which could be easily substituted at a low cost when compared to the conventional sensor heads. The sensor is able to perform efficiently up to a temperature of 250°C, because a heat shield and thermal barrier protects the measuring electronic elements from the effects of heat. An easy three step method is used to calibrate the sensors at the ground level, and include a safe to weld the isolator at the ground level, to safeguard the sensor parts all through the plant maintenance activities. The heads come with a 4-20mA output for a forward connection to a PLC outlet. Control systems that require a voltage output are also provided with outputs.

To make it more refined, the sensor heads could be coupled to the Ellway Design hot aggregate operator interface, which is a Windows system presenting the bin levels in the form of a bar chart with tones versus percentage of the bin capacity. The interface incorporates a multi aggregate calibration set that could take in five different types of materials with individual settings for sand and dust, to give a more precise reading when changing between materials having different densities. The interface also has bin linearization properties, which prevail over the bin's non linear shape for achieving more accurate level reading. The sensors have the capacity of self installation.
