E-Series High-Performance Pan-Tilt Units from FLIR

FLIR Motion Control Systems has recently introduced the PTU-D48 E-Series pan/tilt unit.

This high-performance, completely integrated unit supports a range of antenna, laser, camera, and other sensor payloads. FLIR is a leading producer of enhanced products that are used for controlling and positioning of sensors.

This series is built on the PTU-D48 range pan-tilt units whose utility is proven in a vast range of stringent communications and sensor applications for fixed, airborne, and ground mobile environments. The series uses a mechanical design that utilizes a worm gear for enhanced rigidity and dynamics and does not need pulleys or belts. The patent for this design is pending.

The PTU-D48 E-Series is able to handle payloads exceeding 15 lbs and provides a combined multi-payload solution that will be used for mobile and fixed applications under harsh environments. This model provides in-built Ethernet, digital encoders, along with a slip-ring for the 360-continuous pan having pass-through signals for Ethernet, power, serial and dual-video.

Selected features of this model include multiple in-built-in control interfaces (Ethernet,
RS-485, RS-422, and RS-232), integrated Web and Ethernet interfaces, user-programmable motion ranges, and precise-position resolution for a maximum of 0.003°.
