White Light Sensors from Hexagon Metrology

Hexagon Metrology has released a novel Cognitens brand white light sensing device for mobile and automated 3D evaluation systems.

The innovative system was launched at the Euromold show in Frankfurt, and showcased Cognitens WLS400M manual measurement system and the Cognitens WLS400A automated measurement system, substituting all the earlier white light solutions from Hexagon Metrology. Hexagon Metrology has advanced a new software and hardware for the improved systems.

The clients can access either a mobile architecture or an automated system that can be activated with most of the industrial robots. The Cognitens brand systems offer turnkey solutions featuring the CoreView software suite set by Hexagon Metrology. White light calibration employs digital stereo vision technology for producing precise 3D information. This technology has been widely accepted in the automotive industry and facilitates quality control.

According to Duncan Redgewell, Hexagon Metrology’s Vice President of Portable Products, this novel product features a new LED technology, durable carbon fibre shielding and a compact system arrangement. He added that this solution will facilitate the users to perform shop floor inspection and by combining Cognitens WLS400A to position systems production line evaluation processes can be automated.

The Cognitens white light enabled 3D optical calibration devices are configured for use in automotive and other manufacturing industries applications. Cognitens is a member of the Hexagon Metrology grid and specializes in research, development and manufacture of metrology software and hardware for manual and automated purposes.
