Low Power Optical Sensors from Avago Technologies

Avago Technologies has introduced two new sensors for application in the wireless mouse. The low power sensors can function for more than a year with a single battery.

ADNS-300 and ADNS-2080 Optical Sensors

The ADNS-300 and ADNS-2080 optical sensors are LED-based and offer motion detection at a speed rate of up to 30 inches per second. The sensors provide a maximum acceleration of 20g.

The new optical sensors can be programmed to a maximum of 2000 counts per inch, delivering highly sensitive and accurate navigation. These sensors will lead to a low power mouse that is more light weight and portable, as well as environmentally friendly.

The ADNS-300 and ADNS-2080 sensors work similar to a traditional laser and LED-based optical sensor. The sensors automatically shuts down when there is no motion input, and switches on immediately when it is moved. This offers a considerably enhanced cordless mouse.
