Flexible Electronics to Monitor Athlete’s Activities

The development of an innovative iPhone application has helped the runners to visually map and track their workouts even when working out indoors, outdoors, or practising on a treadmill.

An iPhone is required to carry out such an operation and Reebok Company anticipates advancing the technology further with improved functionalities. Reebok, the leading athletic apparel company, recently proclaimed that they are collaborating with MC10 Company in the advancement and development of “skin like” high-tech electronics that are comfortable and are imperceptible to the wearer.

According to MC10, they manufacture effective skinny and flexible sensors and chips, making the stiff devices to become flexible wearable products.

Popular Science reported that, the MC10’s electronics are made out of ultra-thin silicon strips that have been integratedinto the flexible substrates and are then embedded into the textiles or fabrics or onto an athletic shoe. This technology will enable the incorporation of electronic components into athletic goods , facilitating the recording of the athlete’s exercises.
