New Connector System for Mobile Machine Applications

MTS has declared the availability of Temposonics connector system globally and has included them in the range of M-series sensors for performing reliable position evaluation in portable off-road machines. These sensors can be entirely integrated into a hydraulic cylinder.

The click-on mounting functionality, eliminating any additional tools enhances the safety of the integration process and saves installation time. The sensor is embedded in the hydraulic cylinder and can be easily attached electrically. This avoids time-consuming assembly of the conductor wires and reduces polarity errors or 'dry' solder intersections.

Although developed initially for the MH sensor model, this customary MH sensor model for mobile hydraulics applications are widely deployed in hydraulic cylinder and by portable machine fabricators. After intense advancement and optimization, this system can be deployed for easy installation and thus provide reliable connection of the compact Temposonics MS sensors and the connection of redundant Temposonics MT sensors to machine electronics.

The connector system satisfies all the protection requirements based on DIN EN 60529.It is IP69K shielded with rugged dust-proof metal enclosure and diffusion of water inside the cylinder is completely prevented. It is also resistant to extreme cleaning situations employing intense-pressure systems.

The connector system is pre-designed and supplied along with the M-series position sensing units. Its contact carrier is already linked to the sensing conductors.During installation, the contact carrier is removed off the cylinder by a bore hole, and the flanged enclosure can be fixed in position from the exterior.

When integrating the cylinder unit into the portable machine, the M-series sensors can be linked at various angles by a common M12x1 connector. The reduced fitting height of the connector system facilitates cylinder installation even in restricted space environments, states the company.
