Joint Venture to Introduce Fingerprint Swipe Sensors to China

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) and Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC) have issued a joint statement that they will together introduce the FPC1080A, a fingerprint swipe sensor, ideal for mobile phones and tablets, in the Chinese markets.

The device is compact, power efficient and provides high image quality along with a resolution of 508dpi. It is ideally suitable for applications in mobile phones, laptops, smart cards and USB keys. Its integrated hardware supports finger navigation, making it a suitable alternative to joysticks and other systems.

Along with the swipe-sensor, the two companies will also introduce other products developed individually by them. FPC’s designing and technological expertise will team with SMIC's production capabilities that will help them deliver cost- effective and high performance finger print sensors for mobile and networking applications. The partnership will also bring FPC's other products to China. They will also join HST, FPC's China distributor to introduce further editions of the swipe sensor devices to China.
