Melexis has unveiled its MLX75411, an Avocet image sensor having a range of 154dB. Besides the automobile segment, it can also be used in cameras used for surveillance, to monitor fleet security and night vision.
It can help vehicle drivers to detect persons or objects behind the vehicle or in other blind spots not visible in the headlight illumination, with both the rear view and surround view capabilities. It can be used in all kinds of weather. It has a VGA sensor featuring a 1024x512 pixels resolution at a full frame speed of 60fps. It complies with the Cameron Gulbransen Kids Transportation Safety Act that stipulates that rearview cameras should be installed in all vehicles sold across the US post 2012.
Its Glass-BGA housing has an optical area that is completely protected against contamination and moisture while reducing costs of the active lens focus with high x,y,z and rotation accuracies.
