Canon Launches Digital Cameras with High Sensitivity Sensor

Canon has released the PowerShot SX series and IXUS series, the new range of digital cameras featuring enhanced TruCapture technology with High Sensitivity sensor.

The camera models include the Canon PowerShot SX230 HS, and 115 HS, 220 HS and IXUS 310HS. The Canon PowerShot SX230 HS is the company’s first GPS-fitted camera, while the IXUS 220 HS features 5x optical zoom with 24 mm wide angle.

Canon New Zealand, Brand Manager – Imaging, Rochelle Mora stated that the TruCapture technology enables capturing of beautiful moments precisely and the High Sensitivity sensors allow users to shoot images even in low light.

Other features of the cameras include subject identification (32 scenes) and Movie Digest option, enabling the recording of a Full High Definition movie (around 2.3 times the resolution of High Definition). Movie Digest records video for four seconds before taking a photo and can automatically edit the surprising events of the day into a concise Full High Definition movie. In addition, when recording a scene with zoom option, the zoom motion is captured in the High Definition movie.

The integrated GPS tagging system in the PowerShot SX230 HS enables easy identification and recording location data in the image information. This enables users to easily remind their travel moment, look for photos by localities and develop real maps to reveal their trip adventures with their dear ones.

The three significant technologies of TrueCapture include lens-based Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS), DIG!C Processor and Intelligent Auto. OIS avoids shakes and offers haze-free photos. DIG!C Processor offers realistic colors and Intelligent Auto assures precise shot.

The Intelligent Auto technology of the cameras identifies up to 32 scenes and the ideal shot is quickly captured irrespective of setting or lighting conditions. It also enables users to easily capture a broader range of shots by assessing the scene and distance to the primary object as well as identifying faces and motion of non-human entities. ‘Movie Button’ enables easy and quick toggling between photo and video recording modes. In addition, users can capture videos at home using the Intelligent Auto in ‘Movie’ mode.
