Avago Receives Optical Finger Navigation Component Order from OFN Module Manufacturer

A major manufacturer of optical finger navigation (OFN) modules has placed an additional order worth over $40 million for supplying OFN active components to Avago Technologies. Avago, a leading vendor supplying analog interface components that are utilized for consumer, industrial, and wireless and wired communications applications, will deliver optical sensing engines for the modules.

Avago, a pioneer in the navigational sensors domain, has invested substantially over the years to develop the basic facilitating technology of the optical mouse sensors, besides various innovations like the OFN. Over the last one and a half years, the module manufacturer has been collaborating with Avago to develop OFN solutions for OEMs dealing with multiple mobile handsets. Khin-Mien Chong, General Manger and VP for Navigation Interface Devices at Avago informed that this order is the result of his company’s development efforts with the customer. He added that the order highlights Avago’s image as a leading developer and maker of optical navigation sensors that are utilized in a wide range of applications like mobile platforms.

This order caters for the requirement from OEMs dealing with multiple mobile handsets. This new order is for expected shipments starting from July 2010 for a year.
