Hemisphere GPS, a designer and manufacturer of GPS (GNSS) products for applications in construction, marine and agriculture, has launched the long range RTK for its Outback Guidance systems with Eclipse GNSS receivers.
The long range radio functionality is available with the new Outback A220 series of GNSS receivers. The RTK feature can also be added to the existing receivers in the series.
In agriculture, the radio contact distance between the rover and the GPS base station is normally limited to around 6 mi. The farmer has to move the base station to maintain the contact whenever the rover is farther than 6 mi. This limits the amount of work that can be done with the GPS base station at a single position. The long range radio functionality from Hemisphere GPS extends the radio contact distance to 18 mi. This leads to more productivity within less time.
Currently, the company is offering the 400 MHz radios in its Outback A220 and A221 receivers.
