Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has declared that the new FPC1080A swipe sensor is now available for bulk orders. This swipe sensor is mostly used in mobile applications.
The swipe sensor is the smallest ever made and it consumes very little power. It has been developed using the patented sensing technology from FPC and provides high quality, three-dimensional images with resolution of 508 dpi and 256 gray scale values in each pixel. The hardware in the sensor supports regular image capture, navigation (motion estimation) and automatic finger detection features, which enable usage as a joystick or a touchpad. Apart from mobile applications, the sensor can be used in remote controls, tablets and USB keys as well. FPC will be supplying development units along with PC connections and prototype cards to the customers who purchase the swipe sensor. The CEO of FPC claimed that the user will benefit from the high image quality provided by the sensor by safeguarding sensitive confidential information while transacting in various mobile applications. The sensor with its compact size is ideal for use in portable applications. The sensor comes in a dark coloured packaging, which is hard and durable.
FPC operates with headquarters in Sweden.
