Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has secured its biggest supply order from the Hardware & Software Technologies (HST), which is the company’s distributor in Taiwan and China. The value of this supply contract is approximately SEK 44 M.
The FPC1011F area sensor and 400,000 FPC1080A swipe sensors are mainly included in this contract, which will be supplied in 2012. HST has also secured a one-year distribution contract to deliver the area sensor in Taiwan and China, along with this new order.
The new supply order represents a significant milestone for FPC, thanks to the increased demand of FPC’s solutions in China. Both FPC1080A swipe sensors and FPC1011F area sensors included in this order will be set in access systems, different bank security systems and in portable units like tablet PCs and mobile telephones. Serial Microelectronics, a parallel supplier for FPC in China, will focus on the business opportunities to distribute FPC’s swipe sensor from 2012.
According to Fingerprint Cards’ CEO and President, Johan Carlström, the expansion of HST’s venture as a result of this contract shows HST’s confidence and trust in FPC’s foothold in the Chinese market for swipe and area sensors.
