Terra Technology’s Long-Term Demand Sensing Complements its Product Portfolio

Terra Technology, a reliable supplier of innovative supply chain solutions recently declared the launch of Long-Term Demand Sensing (LDS), complementing Terra’s Demand Sensing product suite. With the latest addition of LDS, Terra can provide more precise forecasts throughout all time horizons, ranging from near term for deployment to long term for strategic planning.

Terra’s verified pattern recognition technology has been expanded to replace obsolete statistical forecasting engines, in addition to increasing forecast precision by up to 40 % across time horizons of several months or even multiple years.

LDS enables the producers to enhance the performance of demand planning tools from SAP, JDA and Oracle. Furthermore, it maximizes the return on the earlier investments. LDS is an advanced statistical forecast engine that ensures a better starting point than legacy solutions, through which planners are free from correcting unrealistic initial forecast outputs. It inspires the planners to concentrate on areas such as planning promotions or changing network design that can provide better cost-efficiency. A more precise prediction of future demand and high planner productivity contribute to achieving good results.

The Demand Sensing family’s other major solutions are:

  • Demand Sensing, which provides better short-term forecast precision for horizons of up to 13 weeks. It also helps evaluate current demand signals such as orders, shipments and day-to-day supply chain data. It shows around 30- 40 % reduction in weekly forecast error.
  • Multi-Enterprise Demand Sensing evaluates downstream data such as warehouse withdrawals, POS, channel inventory, and retailer forecasts for better precision forecasts, wherein impact of Demand Sensing will increase by two-fold.
