Ubisense Group declared that Ubisense location based manufacturing suite’s production installation has been employed by AGCO Group’s brand, Fendt Tractors for standardizing its Germany-based manufacturing facility in Marktoberdorf.
Fendt produces an extensive series of agricultural tractors at the plant. The installation of the Ubisense solution helps view the manufacturing process in real-time focusing on complex gears’ and assemblies’ throughput.
Following a successful pilot project which began during the end of 2011, AGCO Fendt has resolved to launch the project in the entire gear manufacturing hall.
Ubisense offers a location-based manufacturing suite that ensures automatic recognition of the gears being assembled in addition to automatic detection of entering a work station, functioning as input for the new Manufacturing Execution System (MES.) The Ubisense solution does not require any scanning barcodes on gear work-orders, as it is not a value adding activity. This solution therefore facilitates the automation of production process in addition to enhancing productivity and quality.
An Ubisense tag has been fitted to each of the gears for allowing accurate positioning and location throughout the production process, where sensors will be installed at fixed locations along the production line. Unique identifier-built tags are provided that match the respective gear order number. The Ubisense manufacturing suite clearly shows the manufacturing process through handling, recording, and analysis of the location data.
