Neonode Inc., the optical touch technology company, today announces that it has entered a license agreement with an undisclosed Tier-One OEM to incorporate its MultiSensing® touch technology into a high-volume color-LCD childrens tablet, which is expected to start shipping during the second half of 2013.
In addition to licensees Oregon Scientific (MEEP!) and One Laptop Per Child (XO-4 Touch), this premier OEM, and segment bellwether, is Neonode’s third licensee in the rapidly expanding childrens tablet market. Moreover, Neonode had garnered design wins with an additional unnamed premier childrens tablet OEM, who hopes to be shipping its new color tablet by the end of 2013.
Neonode’s increasing success in nascent children-focused markets is due to its patented optical MultiSensing® touch technology, which offers OEMs an incomparable value proposition. In addition to its efficient feature-rich solutions, which enable best-of-breed performance at low cost, Neonode’s proximity sensing features and associated roadmap provide Toy OEMs with a rich palette of high-margin add-on possibilities.
Furthermore, Neonode’s MultiSensing® technology is well matched for incorporating into tablets that require strong and tough design to withstand the unavoidable bumps and spills. This is done without compromising the neat design and thrilling user experience for demanding kids.
“We are not only addressing the growing interest in tablets developed especially for children, but the entire tablet market. Our optical MultiSensing® solutions are suited for the wide breadth of tablet devices. With scanning speeds of 1000Hz, a compelling price-performance ratio, and a pristine user experience, we have developed a very compelling solution for consumer tablets,” says Thomas Eriksson, CEO of Neonode.
