New, Mercury Series of Fingerprint Sensors from Lumidigm

A new series of fingerprint sensors, the Mercury series, has been released by Lumidigm. These sensors are designed to complement the already established Lumidigm Venus sensors by providing multispectral imaging capabilities to the existing product.

Lumidigm’s technology for multispectral imaging eliminates the common problems with conventional fingerprint sensors faced in real-world performance. The company’s new imaging technology is reliable, robust, and allows for complete and quick image capture, regardless of the environmental conditions. This technology has been integrated in the new Mercury sensors, providing a new form factor and platform that enables rapid imaging with a single touch.

Currently available are two Mercury series fingerprint sensors, the M300 and M301. The easy-to-integrate M300 is an OEM module that provides high throughput applications as well high performance. The M301, designed for shared workstation applications, is a desktop sensor. Both sensors comply with MINEX, ANSI 378, and ANSI 381, the interoperability standards in the industry.

The sensors have multiple modes of operation that include verification (1:1), identification (1:N), image output, and template output. The 1:N feature allows for interoperation with the standard templates of 1:1 ANSI 378. The innovative technology allows for high-contrast fingerprint images of 500 dpi and provides both RS232 and USB connectivity.
