DigitalPersona, Inc., a trusted partner for biometric identity verification solutions, today announced that Toplink Pacific Pte. Ltd. has selected the DigitalPersona® TouchChip® TCS1 sensor for its BLUEFiN™ mobile fingerprint scanner.
The BLUEFiN scanner uses Bluetooth® technology for a wide range of mobile applications, including customer authentication for mobile commerce transactions, medical patient identification, single sign-on to computer networks, biometrics to identify social welfare disbursement, as well as a wide range of law enforcement applications including border control and criminal identification..
Siew Yen, marketing director for Toplink Pacific said the company chose the TCS1 sensor because it offers FIPS 201/PIV certification and a large sensor surface with ample room for complete and high-quality capture of fingerprint images. The sensor surface measures 18 mm x 12.8 mm and offers superb image quality (256 x 360 pixels and 508 dpi).
“Mobile authentication is a fast-growth market for us,” Yen said. “We have a strong reputation for best-in-class performance — and we believe the DigitalPersona TCS1 sensor reinforces that reputation for exceptional performance.” Toplink Pacific sells mobile authentication solutions, integrator kits and other products throughout South America, Central America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
“Toplink Pacific’s selection of the TCS1 sensor is an indication of our strength in mobile solutions,” said Richard Agostinelli, president and CEO at DigitalPersona. “As the world becomes more digital and more connected, there will be strong demand for mobile biometric authentication solutions. The TCS1 sensor is just one of our offerings for the mobile and wireless space. This is clearly an area of emphasis for us from an R&D and product development perspective.”
In addition to mobile ID, the DigitalPersona TouchChip TCS1 sensor has been designed for applications such as logical and physical access control, patient ID, government employee verification and other security-driven applications where fast capture and excellent biometric performance are top priorities.
“The design of the TCS1 sensor allows for high quality capture across a wide range of fingerprint types,” Agostinelli said. “Key attributes, such as a high signal-to-noise ratio, excellent robustness, a compact design and low power usage, make it attractive for a wide range of applications, including mobile authentication.”
