Please could tell us a little bit about Digilent and why you're at the conference this week?
Digilent is a manufacturer for embedded development boards - our main purpose is to provide students and educators with hands-on learning using the hardware we produce. In addition to this our boards are also used by professional engineers for prototyping.
The product we produce is very affordable in terms of price. So, engineers can grab more juice, and the development board can be used to build systems, for verification and for design verification. When engineers are happy with their design they can go to the semiconductor company to scale the device to build and ship their own custom systems. We work with a variety of different semiconductor companies to provide this for our end users.
What makes your products unique in the market?
We provide complete solutions. At the beginning we produce a Getting Started Guide and different reference designs. For our student customers, who might not have a sound knowledge about the technology, we help with picking the best technology for them.
The system we produce is always affordable and the technology is accessible. We want to make sure that the engineer or students who use our bot can complete their journey. It’s this that makes us unique.
