Please tell us a bit about Benchmark and why you were at Sensors Expo?
Benchmark is a leading design and manufacturing services solutions provider for industrial, medical, aerospace and defense applications, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. We recently introduced an IoT platform solution targeted for key applications in these markets. The solution leverages our company’s unique capabilities; including our ability to combine miniaturization, intelligent wireless sensor network management, ruggedized industrial design and wireless communications to accelerate development of cutting-edge IoT sensor interface devices and gateway systems for our customers.
We exhibited at Sensors Expo to promote our IoT platform and design capabilities to the industrial sensor community while expanding our relationships with customers and partners in the industrial sensor space. In addition, I was invited to participate on a panel called “Platforms to Enable IoT Solutions”. This was a great opportunity for Benchmark to interact with our peers and share more about best practices within Industrial IoT.
Are you showcasing a particular product or service?
We are showcasing our recently introduced IoT edge platform. Specifically, we focused on how industrial customers can accelerate time-to-market for IoT deployments by building custom solutions optimized for cost and performance based on our IoT edge hardware platforms.
What makes your products unique?
Our IoT edge platforms are specifically targeted to precision indoor asset management and industrial sensor network applications. We have developed a suite of IP and a proof-of-concept reference design that includes scalable hardware with multiple sensor interfaces and a variety of connectivity options, along with embedded software modules that support device provisioning, security, cloud connectivity and more. The IoT edge platform is designed to be quickly customized to a customer specific set of feature requirements and industrial design needs. Our prototype demo kit combines a localized sensor network with UWB (ultra-wide band) radio for extremely accurate indoor location sensing in areas where traditional solutions like GPS are unsuitable.

What were you hoping to get out of the conference?
Industrial IoT is both nascent and dynamic, so part of the draw to attend was the opportunity to learn about the newest sensor solutions in the marketplace. We like to identify potential sensor partners we can collaborate with to integrate the best-of-breed sensors into our reference platform. Our goal is to help our customers solve their customer’s problems. Benchmark is committed to being a leader defining “the art of the possible” for industrial IoT solutions.
