Pi has expanded its involvement in China’s beverage sector through its distributor partnership with Huzhou IMP, which has secured another order from Coca-Cola China for the supply of TurbSense® turbidity sensors. The project demonstrates the growing recognition and confidence that major beverage producers across China place in Pi’s water quality analyzers.
The order includes a range of turbidity analyzers for a Coca-Cola facility in East China. At the plant, the instruments will measure water clarity at important points within the raw water treatment system. Reliable turbidity measurement is essential in beverage manufacturing because changes in clarity can influence filtration efficiency, product quality, and the stability of plant operations.
TurbSense® was selected because it provides accurate, robust, and low-maintenance turbidity monitoring for the facility.
Pi has supplied instrumentation to additional Coca-Cola facilities in China. At a plant in Central China, Pi's equipment is used to measure peracetic acid levels on cold filling lines, while analyzers at another East China facility monitor suspended solids within the wastewater treatment system.

Why Is Turbidity Monitoring Important in Beverage Water Treatment?
Turbidity measurement indicates the clarity of water and the quantity of suspended particles present as water passes through the treatment process. In beverage production, raw water must satisfy specified quality standards before entering manufacturing operations.
Changes in turbidity may indicate problems with the source water, filtration equipment, or overall treatment performance, and these issues can affect later processing stages and the quality of the finished product.
At the Coca-Cola facility, the turbidity monitoring arrangement includes several sensors positioned at carefully selected locations along the raw water line. These instruments provide operators with continuous information about water clarity. Access to real-time data makes it possible to respond more quickly to changes in water quality and improve the performance of the treatment process.
What Makes TurbSense® Well-Suited for Beverage Water Monitoring?
TurbSense® operates with a solid state optical sensor that contains no moving components. This design reduces mechanical wear and limits the amount of maintenance required. Such characteristics are particularly useful in facilities with extended production runs, where frequent instrument servicing could interrupt operations.
The analyzer covers a measurement range from 0.01 NTU to 1000 NTU and offers a resolution of 0.001 NTU. It can therefore identify small changes in low turbidity process water while also measuring the higher turbidity levels that may occur in raw water streams. TurbSense® needs only single-point calibration and uses no consumable reagents, supporting reliable operation and a lower overall cost of ownership.
