Orbital Sciences Receives Thermal Infrared Sensor Developed for Landsat Satellite

NASA has announced that the latest NASA satellite instrument featuring infrared detector technology has arrived at Orbital Sciences’ Gilbert facility located in Arizona. The Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) will be integrated into a Landsat satellite, part of the Landsat Data Continuity Mission for the collection of high resolution imagery and data of the surface of the planet.

Novel Method Helps Use Graphene for Designing Ultrafast Photodetectors

A research team comprising Leonhard Prechtel and Leonhard Prechtel from the Technische Universitaet Muenchen’s Walter Schottky Institut has devised a method to improve the time resolution down to the picosecond range for measuring photocurrent in graphene, which in turn helped in detecting pulses in a few picoseconds.
