ITT Exelis Multimode Radar System to Support Coast Guard’s Maritime Reconnaissance

ITT Exelis has received a $6.5 million award to supply a radar system to the U.S. Coast Guard. The radar will support the service’s maritime reconnaissance mission.

Teledyne Acquires Marine Acoustic Imaging Solutions Provider

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (“Teledyne”) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of RESON A/S (“RESON”). RESON, headquartered in Slangerup, Denmark, provides high-resolution marine acoustic imaging and measurement solutions. The acquired company will operate under the name Teledyne RESON. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

RESON to Host Underwater Technology Seminars and Launch their First Sonar Video Competition

RESON will host its first Underwater Technology Seminar, which will be conducted along with Ocean Business 2013 in Southampton on April 8. The company will also host three other Underwater Technology Seminars in Austin, Copenhagen and Shanghai, later this year.

The Lion Precision LRD8200 Ultrasonic Clear Label Sensor has a new “Gap Quickset” feature for easier setup. The feature enables the user to place a gap in the sensor and with one click set the sensor’s “Gap” setting. Previously, operators had to use the Up and Down arrows until a display indicated the proper setting.

Dual Microphone System Functions as Automatic Road Traffic Sensor

An EPFL doctoral student has designed a microphone-based system that functions as an automatic road traffic sensor. The technology can determine not just how much traffic there is, but also how fast vehicles are going and even their size. It has already sparked an interest in the Swiss towns of Sion and Martigny.

Imec and PVA Tepla Use GHz SAM Technology to Detect TSV Voids at Wafer-Level

Imec and PVA Tepla present breakthrough results in the detection of TSV voids in 3D stacked IC technology. After having applied Scanning Acoustic Microscopy to temporary wafer (de)bonding inspection, they successfully used new advanced GHz SAM technology to detect TSV voids at wafer-level after TSV Copper plating. Together, they will continue to investigate the applicability of high-frequency scanning acoustic microscopy for non-destructive submicron void detection.
