Design Win for FPC’s New Mobile Touch Sensor with Global Tier 1 OEM

In December 2013, Fingerprint Cards (FPC) announced the first design win (DW) for its new mobile touch sensor FPC1020 with a Global Tier 1 OEM for a flagship model with a targeted launch date in the summer of 2014. On April 14, FPC announced an initial pre-ramp purchase order worth SEK 4 M for the FPC 1020, for delivery in May 2014.

Encouraging Results for Electronic Nose Consisting of Cluster of Nonspecific Sensors

We may soon be able to make easy and early diagnoses of prostate cancer by smell. Investigators in Finland have established that a novel noninvasive technique can detect prostate cancer using an electronic nose. In a proof of principle study, the eNose successfully discriminated between prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) by "sniffing" urine headspace (the space directly above the urine sample).
