NetLinx PDU (power distribution unit)

Introduced in the month of June, the PDU offers extra rack control, by permitting reset of devices remotely through a power cycle, thus eliminating manual intervention at the customer site. The PDU looks after or oversees energy consumed by every linked component, and limits power to a device or all devices which are unused.

It consists of 12V power supply, two pairs of 4 AxLink Bus Strips; eight separately monitored and regulated AC outlets, and a temperature sensor, and is highly adaptable and capable of decreasing superfluous power usage. NetLinx controls the Axlink, and incorporates the PDU along with RMS (Resource Management Suite) and the AMX control system.

CustomRetailer Magazine’s editorial team scrutinizes all new innovations, and chooses the champions for the EXCITE awards, based on select criteria such as, if the device simplifies or improves the user’s life, or if the end-user receives any noticeable advantages.

According to the Product Manager (AMX), Doug Hall, a mounting concern for the dealers is management of energy, which the new PDU manages to alleviate with low voltages, delivery of a flawless AV/IT power management strip and high voltage & control distribution for every rack.

Robert Noble, AMX’s Chief Technology Officer, stated that AMX’s abundant experience in automation and control, and the present involvement with the PDU, which helps energy control innovative processes. The PDU upholds energy management techniques, by conserving the energy spent on handling and integrating equipments in the rack, as well as saving the amount of energy being used up in the rack.
