Avoid Short Sensor Calibration Inaccuracies with the JOFRA RTC Series Temperature Calibrators

Many processing plants within the pharmaceutical and food industries feature a wide range of short sanitary sensors that cause problems during calibration because of their shape and size.

Their odd shapes and sizes necessitate calibration within an oil bath, which often introduces further problems: purchase and disposal prices, additional training, potential exposure concerns, spill issues, subsequent safety scenarios. Beyond general maintenance and execution, and even if carefully managed, the oil bath process may still result in errors as there’s no way to ensure the reference sensor is placed correctly or operator consistency.

With so many variables, a simpler, more accurate solution is necessary.

AMETEK STC is pleased to offer a highly accurate portable calibration kit for use with the JOFRA RTC-156 dry-block calibrator, which features the intelligent dual-zone technology. AMETEK STC has developed customized inserts and a reference sensor specifically for this application. By incorporating this kit, users can avoid cumbersome liquid bath calibrations and the performance issues associated with older dry-block calibrators.

This kit features inserts that protrude above the well, providing surface-to-surface contact between the sensor and the insert. A port in the kit allows users to position a flexible reference sensor at the same depth as the sanitary sensor tip for more accurate and consistent results. If the penetration depth doesn’t allow for proper immersion, users can position the reference sensor from the bottom of the insert to the depth of the sanitary sensor.

The JOFRA sanitary kit combined with the dry-block RTC-156 eliminates the problematic oil bath alternative. Users won’t face the potential health concerns or need to invest in additional training sessions associated with hazardous spills. Its portable design requires less set-up time, resulting in a potentially faster, safer procedure overall with improved repeatability.

In addition to the RTC-156, JOFRA’s whole line of RTC calibrators are fully equipped to help you work smarter:

  • Temperature range from -100 to 700°C (-148 to 1292°F) with seven models
  • Accuracy to ± 0.04°C and Stability to ± 0.005°C
  • Dry-block and liquid bath / dry-block combined
  • Time-saving cooling and heating times
  • Contamination-free calibration of clamp sensors
  • “Plug and Play” intelligent reference sensors
  • Easy-to-read color display with user-friendly navigation
