Zilog Launches Enhanced Sensing Technology for Motion Detection

IXYS Corporation’s subsidiary Zilog, a provider of application oriented embedded micro controller (MCU) system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, has launched an innovative detection and control technology named ZMOTION ideal for motion sensing applications such as lighting control, person sensing and other power controlling applications.

The module is designed with an enhanced sensing and control technology comprising an ultra efficient microcontroller with distinctive built-in software. It is developed for products that need passive infrared (PIR) motion sensing control. These features permit it to be employed in new designs. Its quick implementation reduces development time.

The ZMOTION features innovatively designed software of a peripheral set of Zilog’s Z8FS040 series of microcontrollers. The robust embedded software algorithms provide better motion sensing capabilities to the module, which is optimized by combining a low profile Fresnel lens and the pyroelectric sensor for multiple motion sensing and control solutions.

The system provides superior performance and flexibility in the developing equipment. It reduces product development cycles and offers firmware modifications in the field.
