Ametek announced that it has purchased the Chicago-based weathering test instruments and related services provider, Atlas Material Testing Technology. Ametek has acquired the new company for about $159 million from Industrial Growth Partners.
Atlas Material Testing Technology has manufacturing facilities in Germany, and a chain of laboratories as well as outdoor testing facilities across the world. The products offered by Atlas include corrosion-testing instruments, large-sale weathering test chambers, weathering exposure test systems, and specialty lighting systems. The company also provides services such as indoor laboratory testing, outdoor testing, and solar testing and consulting. Atlas offers services to various customers including paint, polymer, photovoltaic, automotive, plastic, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as testing laboratories.
Atlas will be a part of the Ametek Measurement & Calibration Technologies (M&CT) division of the Electronic Instruments Group of Ametek. Ametek M&CT designs, produces and supplies material test instruments for different applications including hardness and force testing; instruments for high accuracy pressure, temperature and signal calibration; and sensors for position, pressure, temperature and level.
