Some innovative laptops may have the potentiality to sense earthquake. The improved versions of laptops form leading companies, such as Apple and Lenovo, are integrated with motion sensing accelerometers to identify when a unit has fallen.
By incorporating seismograph software to a computer along with an accelerometer, such as the Stanford University-developed Quake-Catcher Network, the users can gather vibration information. The data can be relayed to a global database of other users for tracking earthquakes rapidly without using any professional-standard seismometers.
If the laptop or computer does not have an in-built accelerometer, a USB-coupled accelerometer can be employed to utilize the seismograph software for collecting vibration data.
