The 10.6 MP camera offers 720p HD video recording and features 14 scene modes such as Golf Swing Continuous and Cooking.

The hybrid AF system includes a passive area sensor to determine the distance between the object and camera. The contrast search program provided with the hybrid AF system focuses on the peak location. These features allow the AF time to be as minimal as 0.2 sec for 300 mm telephoto shots and 28 mm wide-angle shots.

The CX5 camera features a 10.7x optical zoom, which allows photographers to realize maximum ultra-telephoto shooting of 2880 mm and telephoto shooting of 600 mm. In addition, it provides various features including preset creative shooting capabilities like Toy Camera; SD/Eye-Fi card support; HDMI connectivity; and a 3’’ LCD panel with 960k-dot resolution.
