Embedded Sensor Makes Rod Lock Series Suitable for Aerospace Applications

Nexen Group has launched its RLSS series of Rod Locks, Generation 2. The products are offered with or without an embedded engagement sensor. The products are fixed to springs and air-released.

The encasings feature forces up to 5000lbs with low backlash. Another feature that can be availed of is a magnetic inductive sensor to enhance machine safety through a monitoring system that relays information feedback. The sensor is fixed to a T-slot in the housing present in the encasing to detect rod-lock engagement.

The devices are suitable for gripping and accurate placement. A holding force of 360° around the cylinder rod is offered by a clamping collar. The device thus produces a good force in a compact footprint without displacing any component, minimizing maintenance and enhancing the life of the cylinder rod.

The product is available in various sizes compliant with ISO and NFPA. They are also IP67 rated, and resist harsh environments and support tough motion control applications. They are ideal for applications in robotics, inspection and transfer equipment, food processing, packaging, automotive and aerospace industries.
