Dexter Industries has publicly announced the release of a new sensor called the NXTBee, which is a long range, wireless communication sensor for the Lego Mindstorms NXT System.
The NXTBee makes use of the XBee radio system and also uses NXT’s RS485. The sensors provide enhanced communication, secure networking, mesh networking as well as a series of advanced protocols to the systems. The company contends that the NXTBee sensor would attract swarms robotics to the Lego Mindstorms NXT system.
Dexter Industries produces sensors for the Mindstorms NXT System and also develops a series of sensors for hobbyists and education field. The company also offers a GPS guidance system, solar power systems, pressure and temperature sensors for the Mindstorms NXT System.
