FPC Receives Initial Commercial Order for FPC1080A Swipe Sensors

Fingerprint Cards AB (FPC) has obtained the first commercial order for the FPC1080A, which is the company’s new swipe sensor.

This first order has been secured from Hardware & Software Technology (HST), FPC’s distributor in China, for onward delivery to clients. The volume of the order is 50,000 units.

A main supplier of biometric security solutions in the Chinese financial and banking sector had evaluated the new swipe sensor in spring and then resolved to produce USB keys incorporated with FPC’s fingerprint sensors. These USB keys would be utilized by the bank’s customers for signing bank transactions and for Internet logging to the bank. It has planned to deliver these sensors in the Q3 of 2011. FPC expects that during the next three to four years the demand for its sensors in the Chinese submarket would be around 100 million units.

According to Johan Carlstrom, the CEO and President of FPC, the initial order is a great commercial breakthrough for the company. He mentioned that they had secured this first order of USB keys, which would be equipped with swipe sensors and glad to note that the company’s superior performance and quality had been the force behind this immediate impact on the market.
