Meder Develops MK24 Reed Sensors

Meder has developed the MK24, a new non-contact surface mounted reed sensor, whose performance is better than the other reed sensors available.

Meder-KSK 1A04

This sensor with a base reed switch (4mm KSK-1A04) has a life expectancy of 50 million operations at 5V, 100Hz and 5mA. This sensor with dimensions of 5mm x 1.8mm x 2.2mm also offers both normally-closed (NC) and normally-open (NO) switch options, which actually means that this sensor could be made use of in a variety of applications. The NO version is offered with three lead options, the J lead, gull wing and the straight cut axial, while the NC version is available with J lead and gull wing designs and all of them are RoHS compliant.

The MK24 even with its ultra compact size is housed in a strong over-moulded package, which contains the hermetically sealed reed switch. Moreover, the reed switch is packed in reel and tape. This device does not need any external power source for operations and hence is ideal for applications that need low power and also have space constraints such as the portable electronic and medical devices. These sensors are used as control switches or even as non-contact magnetic proximity sensors which are used for position, counting, liquid-level and limit detection applications.
