Michell Debuts Intrinsically Safe Hygrometer with Ceramic Sensor Technology

Michell Instruments, a global designer and manufacturer of oxygen, humidity and moisture measurement solutions for a wide range of industries and applications, has introduced a new version of their MDM300 Series hygrometer.

MDM300 I.S. hygrometer

The intrinsically safe version is intended for applications including generation of electric power, processing of petrochemicals, monitoring of natural gas quality, and applications in hazardous areas. The portable MDM300 I.S. hygrometer utilizes the company’s ceramic sensor technology. It has an ergonomic design that allows it to be easily operated with one- or two-hands. The hygrometer’s rugged build provides industrial durability. It also features an intuitive menu for configuring the instrument. The MDM300 I.S. has easy-to-press, large-sized buttons that allow comfortable operation even when the operator wears gloves.

The hygrometer is portable and can be used for performing spot checks for moisture in processes. The checks can be performed at any point in the process and the points where moisture ingress occurs can be quickly identified before damage occurs.

Michell has used a novel technical approach for the MDM300 I.S. hygrometer which allows it to be used for continuous high-speed operations, leading to lower costs and higher efficiency. The meter can be operated at pressures of up to 4500 psig and it is capable of providing precise and quick measurements of moisture content. It can operate at temperatures ranging from -100°C to +20°C dew point temperature. Michell's ceramic sensor technology allows the hygrometer to reach -60°C dew point temperature with accuracy better than ±2°C within a period of 15 minutes. The hygrometer also has a fixed orifice sample system for accommodating low pressures. Along with external sampling systems, the MDM300 I.S. can be made to accommodate higher pressures.
