Intevac Awards IDIQ NAVAIR Contract for Enhancements in Digital Night Vision Sensors

The US Navy Naval Air Warfare Center has awarded a $9.6M indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to Intevac Photonics, which is a subsidiary of Intevac.

This contract was given for executing performance improvements in the Intevac developed ISIE 4000, the four mega pixel digital night vision sensor which is being used in different Navy aircraft platforms. The ISIE 4000 is based on the Electron Bombarded Active Pixel Sensor (EBAPS) design developed by Intevac for performing detection in extreme low light conditions. This contract is in reality, a five year base contract with additional alternatives. The initial order for $1.9M was received by Intevac as a part of the IDIQ award.

Joe Pietras, who is the General Manager and Executive Vice President of Intevac Photonics, has stated that this contract had been awarded so that further advancements could be carried out on their digital sensor and was very important for their business as it shows the support extended by the U.S. Military for their sensor technology. This would help them in their expansion efforts of their product portfolio of EBAPS digital sensors which were being utilized for the U.S. Military applications.
