Electronic Design Magazine has bestowed Vishay Precision Group with the Best Electronic Design award for their ultra-high-precision and high-temperature HTHG Series Bulk Metal Foil Resistors, as announced in the magazine’s issue dated December 8.
The HTHG series has been designed for high temperature applications and provides improved heat dissipation. The surface-mount Z1-Foil HTHG series resistors are hybrid chip resistors that are connected using gold wire bonding. Based on Z1-Foil technology, the HTHG series resistors provide magnitude reduction in the Bulk Metal Foil’s sensitivity to changes in both internal and external temperature, while providing stability in extreme environments. The Z1-Foil resistor technology developed by Vishay Precision manages the stress in order to counter the forces with opposing effects. The resistors have been designed to provide stability in radiation-rich environments and extreme temperatures in deep space, under seas and oil-well logging applications.
The HTHG series devices provides a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of ±2.5 ppm/°C from -55°C to +220°C and ±1 ppm/°C typical from -55°C to +125°C. The load life stability of the resistors at 220°C is 0.05% for 2,000 h while the long-term stability of the resistors at 240°C is 0.05% for 2,000 h.
The HTHG series devices provide a resistance range from 5 W to 125 kW, a resistance tolerance of ±0.02%, voltage coefficient of less than 0.1 ppm/V, current noise of 0.010 µV (RMS)/Volt and a thermal stabilization time of under 1s.
The HTHG series devices are available in three different chip sizes, viz. 15x10, 15x5 and 5x5.
