Opgal Releases Risk Assessment and Fire Detecting Thermal Camera Solution

Opgal Optronic, an Israel-based manufacturer of IR cameras and thermal imaging systems for security, defense, industrial and scientific applications, has enabled certain EyeSec thermal cameras with a fire risk assessment and long-range fire detection capability.

Opgal’s application-specific fire detection video algorithms capable of sensing fire and automatically notifying the safety and security personnel is a one-of-a kind solution available in the market.

The EyeSec range of risk assessment and fire detection solutions are available with several lens options featuring an easy-to-integrate interface. The solution is well-suited for transportation tunnels, perimeter sites near greenery and flammable forests, facilities with flammable materials and combustible storage areas, which are susceptible to fires and need additional security. The sensitive sites can establish enhanced site security and surveillance by deploying the EyeSec fire detecting camera solutions.

Enabled with flame detection capability, the round-the-clock EyeSec camera solution can identify small fires of 75x75 cm size at a distance of 840 m and larger 6x6 m fires at distance of 6.5 km away in a matter of few seconds. The fire detection capability leverages the company’s signal and image processing features, which can observe a scene for temperature and flame patterns.

During the development of the fire detection and fire risk assessment feature, Opgal stressed on advanced operated alert features. Once a fire threat is identified, the camera issues a visual alarm to the video signal and generates an alert using dry contact relay or IP communication. A maximum of five areas can be defined by the user where risk of fire is unlikely and can be ignored.

The Vice President - Security Business at Opgal, Yair M Sakov stated that the EyeSec cameras are recognized for the superior thermal video, which is produced using Opgal’s proprietary signal and image processing technology.
