Symmetry Electronics Adds North Pole Engineering as Support Partner for GainSpan Wi-Fi Sensor Applications

Symmetry Electronics, a leader in design-focused semiconductor distribution, today announced it has signed a global distribution agreement with North Pole Engineering (NPE) and is currently stocking NPE developed WiFi-IT! EDK.

The WiFi-IT! EDK is designed to evaluate and develop wireless embedded sensor and control applications using GainSpan's low-power Wi-Fi products. North Pole Engineering is a GainSpan Ecosystem partner and Symmetry Electronics is already an authorized GainSpan distributor. This new partnership will provided Symmetry customers with additional support options for wireless solutions.

North Pole Engineering offers two versions of the EDK. The standard EDK is a fully integrated development environment that can be configured to support all of the WiFi-IT! module features. The EDK+ is also a fully integrated development environment that supports embedded sensor and control applications as well as provides more flexibility with a number of additional commands and more memory than the standard version. The NPE development environment provides engineers a quick and easy path to developing sensor applications without using a host microcontroller. Additionally, NPE provides value added engineering services to help clients with their embedded hardware and Wi-Fi application development needs.

"Symmetry Electronics is pleased to add North Pole Engineering as a support partner for GainSpan Wi-Fi sensor applications," says David Beck, Symmetry Director of Technical Marketing. "The Wi-Fi IT! Development platform enables rapid development thus shortening time to market and adding value to a wireless design."
