Transport Canada Approves Installation of Airborne Remote Gas Sensing System on Helicopters

Synodon Inc. ("Synodon"), announces that Transport Canada has issued a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approving the installation of Synodon's realSens™ system on Bell 206B Jet Ranger type helicopters registered and operating in Canada.

A similar certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States is expected within a few months through the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement. Synodon already holds STC's in both Canada and United States for the larger Bell 206L Long Ranger and has been operating exclusively on this helicopter until now.

"We are very pleased to conclude this flight-worthiness certification process that was initiated with Transport Canada over 12 months ago. The receipt of this STC affords Synodon more operational flexibility. We can now use a short range helicopter, which has lower hourly operating costs, for short flight segments and a long range helicopter, which requires less fuelling stops, for longer flight segments. As a result of this increase in efficiency, we anticipate a reduction in aviation costs for our customers while also improving Synodon's operating margins", said Mr. Adrian Banica, President and CEO of Synodon.

Synodon Inc. is a technology company which has developed an advanced airborne remote gas sensing system called realSens™, based on technologies developed under the Canadian Space Program and by Synodon scientists. The company currently provides advanced airborne pipeline integrity management services to the oil and gas sector through a suite of services including natural gas and liquid hydrocarbon leak detection, pipeline threat assessments, and waterway crossings analysis among others.
